How To Double Your Ezine Open Rate

First of all let me explain what an open rate is – its the percentage of people that actually open your email compared to how many people you sent it to.

For example, you send an ezine email to 100 people and 20 open it you have an open rate of 20%. Which by the way is pretty good.

This quick tutorial is using Aweber as an example but I’m pretty sure you can do all of this in any decent email management software.

Here’s what you do:

  1. Send an email to your list. Simple, right? Good.
  2. Wait a day or two.
  3. Create a segment of your original list containing only the people that didn’t open your original email (this is super simple to do in AWeber)
  4. Send the same email to this email segment but use a different subject line.
  5. Track results.

That’s it.

Here is why this works: Your first email may have generated an open rate of 5%. You send a second email to the people who didn’t open the original using a different subject line. Let’s say 5% of these people open the email. You have just doubled your open rate.

Do you see how easy that is? More importantly, Aweber make this super easy to do, it literally takes around 4 or 5 clicks of the mouse and you’re done.

This literally works in ANY market and if you’re not applying this to your own business you are missing out on a lot of potential business.

Getting emails opened is very important. The more people that open, the more people click your link and the more products you can sell.

If you sent an email recently go and send the same email with a different subject line to the people that didn’t open the original. You’ll love the results :-)
